It Was seeing Elvis Presley on the screen of a West London cinema that made Ian Gillan decide the nine-to-five lifestyle just didn’t have his name on it, and never would.

Encouraged by good mate Roger Glover (first in Episode Six, later in Deep Purple), Ian was soon to emerge as a fearless frontman with a vocal capacity that always kept him in control - from lowest growl to highest scream... to even higher scream!
